Anxiety Therapy in Fort Lauderdale

*Online Therapy in Florida and Illinois*

Anxiety isn’t just in your mind—it’s in your body, too. The racing heart, tight chest, and unsettling butterflies can make it hard to focus, connect with others, or enjoy life. Add to that the constant worry about what people think, the future, and responsibilities, and it can feel overwhelming.

If talk therapy hasn’t been enough, you’re not alone. While it can help you gain self-understanding and tools to manage anxiety, it often doesn’t address the automatic panic or persistent feelings of unease that come with overwhelming physical sensations and tension.

It’s time for a change. Using somatic therapy, like Somatic Experiencing and Safe and Sound Protocol, I can help calm your body, reduce your anxiety, and help you reconnect with life again.

Hi, I’m Amy!

If anxiety has been holding you back, I understand how heavy it can feel. It’s not just about the anxiety itself—it’s the endless worry, the urge to avoid tough conversations, the hesitation to take risks, and the difficulty in managing your daily responsibilities. This can make it seem impossible to envision a life without constant fear and uncertainty. You know there’s a better way to live, but figuring out how to get there can be overwhelming.

That’s where I can help. My focus is on helping you find a sense of calm in both your mind and body, so you can face life’s challenges with confidence, tackle difficult situations directly, and reconnect with a sense of peace and happiness.

If you’re ready to start feeling more in control and less burdened by anxiety, I encourage you to schedule a free 20-minute consultation today.

My Approach to Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety can take over, affecting both your mind and body. You may have tried talk therapy, working through fears about the future or panic over responsibilities, but it hasn’t fully addressed the way anxiety impacts you. Even small obstacles can feel huge. Your body braces with a tight chest, shallow breathing, and tense muscles. You feel stuck and exhausted. You might avoid situations or struggle to face people. This makes it even harder to break free from anxiety.

Traditional therapy often doesn’t address the full picture. While talk therapy can help with the mental side of anxiety, it often misses the physical effects that keep your body in a constant state of tension. That’s where I come in. I use a somatic approach, which includes Somatic Experiencing (SE) and if you choose, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), to help regulate your nervous system so your body and mind can work together to bring you a sense of calm and control.

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE): This gentle, body-centered approach helps you notice how anxiety shows up in your body. By releasing physical tension, SE helps to ease the intensity of your anxiety, regulating your nervous system and making it easier to find relief and regain control.

  • Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP): This unique music therapy helps your nervous system feel safe. It stimulates the vagus nerve with specially filtered music, helping your body relax and making it easier to feel grounded and less reactive to stress.

  • Polyvagal Theory: I use Polyvagal Theory to understand how your nervous system responds to stress. When anxiety has you on high alert, both physically and emotionally, it’s harder to feel calm and in control. Together, we’ll work to balance your system so you can feel more at ease.

  • Attachment Theory: I also incorporate Attachment Theory to explore how your past emotional and relational experiences may be affecting your current anxiety. Understanding these patterns can help build stronger, healthier connections with yourself and others.

Somatic therapy helps with both the body and the mind by regulating your nervous system. When your nervous system is balanced, you have more flexibility in how you respond to stress. This means you can handle challenges and emotions more easily, without getting overwhelmed by anxiety.

Many of my clients work with a talk therapist while seeing me, combining different approaches to address both the mental and physical sides of anxiety. Through SE and SSP, we’ll help ease your anxiety, calm your body, and finally break free from the cycle of worry and overwhelm.
